Pre-Summer Drop-In Session (P.D. Day)

Friday June 7th, 2013  2:00 – 3:30 pm

Willow Park Ecology Centre is offering Drop-in sessions and summer Day camp weeks this year. Get a sneak peek at the nature activities, fun games and creative construction projects we have planned for you. Help us kick off the summer in style.

Please pre-register by Wednesday June 5th.

Back to Nature: Willow Park Stewardship Event

Saturday June 8th  2013,   9:00 am - noon

Willow Park Ecology Centre, Norval, Ontario

Volunteers needed to join with Credit Valley Conservation Authority and Willow Park Ecology Centre to restore our natural setting!

Get involved and help give back to this beautiful natural area.  The task for the day is removing invasive species and trail and garden maintenance. Come on out and exercise that green thumb of yours!  This event is suitable for all ages and it is an opportunity to give back to the environment while learning about ecology.

Father’s Day (Big Daddy Festival)

Sunday  June 16th  2013,  11:00 am – 4:00 pm

Bring Dad along for some fun by the side of Silver Creek. Celebrate our wonderful Native Canadian heritage. We’ll have demonstrations, games, and creative activities from 11 am – 4 pm.

  • Make and decorate your own drum and drum beater to play in the Drum Circle - 11 am - 1 pm when the Drum Circle starts
  • Drumming Circle - 1 pm until closing - Join in, sing, play your own drum, and hear stories about the original inhabitants of the area
  • Create your paddler for the “Paddle to the Sea” race at the end of the day. - noon - 3 pm
  • Sail a your paddler in a canoe down the river to the finish line - 3:30 until closing
  • Paint a turtle or frog to decorate our compost/reuse area - and decorate a small turtle to take home or to give Daddy - 11 am - 3 pm
  • Join in our Scavenger Hunt and learn about the critters in the park - 11 am - 3 pm
  • Learn how to make strawberry jam (you know it's dad's favourite) without using a stove. demonstrations at 11:30 and 1:30

Homecoming at Willow Park!

 Saturday July 27th  2013, 

If you still remember Willow Park as a trailer park, it’s time to check out the changes at the Ecology Centre! Explore our tree trail, pond, demonstration gardens and more. Special Butterfly Day activities will be running throughout the afternoon as well. See you there!

Native crafts and drum-making from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm

Drum circle starts at 1:00 pm

Willow Park Ecology Centre is hosting our monthly healing drum circle led by Anthony Barr of the Sacred Sevens Sharing Circle. If you joined with us before, or if you missed the previous events, please feel welcome to join with us in a place that was well used by the First Nations in this land.Children are welcome and encouraged to participate. They will have a chance to bring the drums they made at the Big Daddy Festival or to make their own drums if they have not participated before.
