The Great Solar Cook-Off Contest

Sunday August 21  2011,   2:003:30 pm

Our Sun provides energy that can be put to more uses than just working on your tan. Willow Park Ecology Centre challenges you, your friends and family to enter our first ever Great Solar Cook-Off.

Design a solar oven with a team. Then practise your culinary skills and create a dish cooked by solar power. Build a solar oven that heats up the fastest, that is easy to set up, and that you would be proud to display on your deck or in your backyard.

Concoct a main dish, a dessert, a snack for your friends or something that includes the most local fresh food possible.

It's hard to believe but -- Wastewise is celebrating 20 years of service to our community. Wastewise has also been our sponsor - offering continuous encouragement and support since Willow Park Ecology Centre started.

Now is the time to party and thank Wastewise for all they have done to promote the reuse and recycle of so many things in our community.

The agenda for the day is still being firmed up - but lots of surprises are in store for our visitors today - including our monthly Native Canadian Drum Circle and the making of native crafts from reused and repurposed supplies.

Keep checking this site for further announcements on our agenda.
